Abstract

This study deals with the religious discourse and its impact on the language of the poets of contradictions, according to sociolinguistics, and how these poets were able to express their social and political issues according to the religious perspective, starting from their visions and views emanating from epistemological, ideological, religious and social references that help in the formation of their poetic inspiration and its glow, which is reflected in their poetry. As the speaker is the creator of linguistic performances, and the transmitter of what goes through his mind, he produces through these linguistic performances a spoken or written speech, received by the addressee, who is affected by circumstances and conditions that control the communicative process, which must be taken care of.This was evident in the poetry of contradiction, the subject of the study, in which they included religious expressions that reflected their religious reference, the prevailing social custom to which the poets adhered, and the impact of the social environment and religious culture. In addition,it reflected the political authority that worked to consolidate and nurture this kind of poetry to sustain their authority, and confirm their right to the caliphate and governance, by making poets a means of media, communication, persuasion and influence in the general population of their tribes and the cultural community, in the Umayyad era at the time
