Abstract
This study aims to identify the status quo of the knowledge management culture from the point of views of the academics who held managerial position at Jordanian governmental Universities. Moreover, it aims to analyze the responses regarding status quo of the knowledge management culture based on respondents’ gender, academic ranks, managerial position, experiences, and University.
The descriptive research approach was used. in this context, the researcher developed a questionnaire as research instrument for the purpose of achieving the objectives of this study. The questionnaire was consisted of 10 main factors measuring the culture of the knowledge management that were ensured in term of reliability and validity. Afterward, the questionnaires were distributed to the participants of the study sample, which represented 290 academic lecturerswho held managerial position at one of the selectedJordanian governmental Universitiesthat are: University of Jordan, Yarmouk University, and Mutah University. whereas these Universitieswere clustered based on Jordaniandistricts.
The findings showed that the current situation ofknowledge management culturefrom the point of views of the academics who held managerial position was at moderate level, and there was no significant differences in their opinions for all factors based on either gender or managerial position variables. Furthermore, the results indicate that there was no significant differences in their perceptions at a confidential level of (0.05) regarding two factors (generating knowledge, and management’s commitment to apply knowledge management) based on experiences variable. On the other hand, there was a statistically significant differences in their opinions for all factors based on their academic ranks. The study recommends to adopt knowledge management for the purpose of developing and improving both individual and institutional performance in the context of Universities. It also recommends to increase the awareness of employees who work in governmental Universities regarding the concepts associated with knowledge management as well as enhancing the implementation of knowledge management in their work
