Abstract
This research deals with a very significant question which is the issue of residing in the land of those damned and punished by God and taking advantage of its affluence , plentiful water resources and minerals . The reverend theologians taking into consideration al hadith and other traditions have differed on this matter. After investigating this issue and looking into the jurisprodent's views and evidences, I have come to the conclusion that it is permissible. I have based my conclusion on the holy Quran, sunnah and the objectives of Shari'a which call for the cultivation, utilization and exploitation of the land. I was also guided by the teachings of Islam which ask for the satisfaction of man's needs, the combating of poverty and unemployment. This is to be attempted by using all means to realize human prosperity and dignity within the framework of faith and the fear of God and by keeping away from deterioration and deviation to avoid distortion of man and land
