Change, development and progress are characteristics of needed life which affect economical, social, political, and educational aspects. This means that educational thought is considered as an accumulated thought man developed it thousands years ago. And man still adds new things to achieve progress, prosperity and acceleration to go with changes. Also, for the sake of the past and making its positiveness as a way to understand the present and the future. The study tried to clarify the meaning of self ≠ learning and its relation with distance learning philosophy. Also, clarifying the roots of the distance learning system and open learning and assumption. The study also clarified the progressive relation of education in the Islamic philosophy with open teaching. Meanwhile to clarify some of Arabsك experience learning and its various constitutions. The study depended on the historical descriptive method to display knowledge connected with distance learning philosophy and University Open teaching
