This paper discusses e-learning in the context of education. The concept of ìe-learningî has been used in various walks of life especially in the field of education since the year 2000. It has been used widely in educational institutions as a result of its effectiveness in distance education. Educational experts think that e-learning is enhanced by the world communication network (Internet) since it has a number of features that enable it to overcome a lot of the obstacles which impede providing education worldwide. Furthermore, they agree that e-learning is an important educational instrument in our recent life since it gives students the ability to search and find the up-to-date information. This achievement is the result of evolving the Internet which is the core of e-learning and, at the same time, is an important tool that provides continual education for those who wish for further education, updating their experience, scientific progress, and job promotion. This paper aims at wide of the Internet in the teaching-learning process and in improving higher education. This will enable the distance learning to develop and popularize e-learning as it is a new system of education which has its own supporters and characteristics.
