Abstract

The study aimed to identify the level of husbands’ support for theirwives enrolled at Al- Quds Open University according to some variables. In addition, it tried to determine whether there was a statistically significantrelationship between the level of husbands’ support for their wives and thesevariables: family income. Cumulative average and academic achievementmotivation. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire consistingof three sections was designed: the first section related to variables of thestudy; the second is related to the level of support that husbands offer totheir wives enrolled at Al- Quds Open University; and the third sectionwas devoted to measure the level of academic achievement motivation. Thequestionnaire has been distributed to a simple random of (400) wives joiningthe university as students. (378) copies of the questionnaire were restored. The data were analyzed through the use of the program statistical packageof social sciences (SPSS) . The results showed that the level of support fromhusbands to their wives enrolled at Al- Quds Open University was high, andthat there are significant differences in the level of support according to thevariables (specialization, and level of education of the husbands) . Results didnot prove the existence of statistically significant differences in the level ofsupport according to the variables (marital age, marital status, and numberof family members) , but they showed the existence of statistically significantrelationship between the level of support provided by husbands to their wivesenrolled at Al- Quds Open University and the level of household income, thecumulative average and academic achievement motivation. In the light of theresults of the study, the researchers recommended that there is a need to havemultiple sources of support for married students.
