Abstract

Citizenship is a modern term used to denote the relationship between the individual and the state on the basis of rights, duties and equality. With the emergence and development of the term citizenship through different historical eras, and through the axes / titles, the political, economic, social and cultural dimensions of citizenship were addressed, as well as the pillars of citizenship represented in equality in some details, and the rights of citizenship such as civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights were addressed. The research dealt with the duties of citizenship. The research also touched on the concept of patriotism and the latest approach between it and the term citizenship. Through this approach, the most prominent features and characteristics of citizenship represented in participation in political life in order to serve the homeland and the citizen, and the research indicated to the most important challenges of citizenship represented in discrimination, tyranny of the state, absence of the principle of independence of the judiciary.
