Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the reality of the culture of dialogue and acceptance of the other at An-Najah National University, and to identify the impact of the variables of gender,college, academic level, and academic year. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire consisting of (44) paragraphs was developed and divided into four areas: Students' dialogue with faculty members, students' dialogue with their colleagues, university administration and its dialogue with students, and the role of faculty members. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were verified. The study sample consisted of (226). It was selected from the study population of (2200) male and female students of An-Najah National University in the Faculties of Educational Sciences and the Science Faculty. It was selected using the simple random sampling method. The descriptive approach was used.

The results of the study showed that all the fields of the study and the total degree obtained a high degree, except for the field of university administration and its dialogue with students, which obtained a medium degree. The results also showed that there were no differences in the reality of the culture of dialogue and acceptance of the other due to the variables of gender, college, academic level and academic year. The most important recommendations of the study were that there should be a greater and more effective role by the university administration in the process of developing the culture of dialogue and acceptance of the other, finding different channels of convergence between the university administration and students and their representatives in different parties.
