Abstract

This study aimed to identify the perceived social support level among the students of the Faculty of Education at Al-Qassim University. The study sample consisted of (228) male and female students of the Faculty of Education at Al-Qassim University in Saudi Arabia. The researcher used a survey descriptive method. The researcher also translated the perceived social support scale, which was developed by Zimet, at el, 1988. The study results indicated that the level of the perceived social support among the Faculty of Education students was moderate, and there were no statistically significant differences at the level of(0.05 ≥ α) due to the effect of gender in the total degree except for the (friends) field, which were in favour of the males, but there were statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05 ≥ α) between the high and low achievement, which were in favour of the high achievement in the field of (family). Similarly, there were differences between the high achievement on one hand, and the moderate and low achievement on the other, which were in favour of both the average and the low achievement. Moreover, there were statistically significant differences between the moderate and the low achievement, which were in favour of the low achievement in the field of friends, and the other individuals in the total degree. The study recommended the necessity to activate the role of the universities through educating students, organising workshops about the sources of the perceived social support to acquire the skills of solving the social problems , so they can solve their own social problems and overcome the difficulties they face.
