Abstract

The study aims at exploring what can be called 'the black box' of finding how managers' transformational leadership behaviors influence the attitudes of their employees, through testing the role of core self-evaluation as a moderator variable in the relationship of transformational leadership with the psychological empowerment perceptions, in addition to testing the effect of psychological empowerment perceptions as a mediator variable in the relationship of transformational leadership behaviors with employees' attitudes. The study was applied on a random sample consisting of 296 employees who working in the banking sector in Riyadh. Through the use of hierarchical moderated regression analysis and the structural equations model, the conclusions we have drawn emphasize the role of core self-evaluation as a moderator variable in the relationship of transformational leadership with employee psychological empowerment perceptions. The findings also highlight the fact that psychological empowerment perceptions played the role of mediator variable in the relationship of transformational leadership behaviors with employees' attitudes.
