Abstract

The study aimed to explore the positive and negative psychological repercussions of digital assessment on secondary school students according to the gender variable. The study sample consisted of 240 students (150 females and 90 males) distributed over several high schools in Akkar Governorate from the public sector. Two tools were used for this research, the first is a questionnaire to study the level of frustration and stress during the digital assessment process consisting of 19 questions that are answered according to a triple scale (yes, no, sometimes), and the second tool is Sarson’s Exam Anxiety Scale after updating it to fit the study sample to measure its level of reliability and credibility. Results revealed a medium level of frustration, tension, and exam anxiety among secondary school students. The statistical results also displayed a positive perspective toward digital assessment as an alternative to the traditional one. It also contributed to breaking the barrier of fear and shyness among students and implementing effective participation using Tec savvy techniques. This work, also, revealed no statistically significant differences between the average scores of females and the average scores of males on the level of frustration and tension during the implementation of the digital assessment and exam anxiety. Finally, the study concluded by presenting several recommendations for further research.
