Al Jinan الجنان
Abstract
The short story is a literary art, one of the Prose Arts that engage an important place among the various literary texts, in particular The narrative texts. The Short Story has appeared among the Arabs at the beginning of the twentieth century, and in the last decade it has reached a degree of maturity and development that it had not witnessed before. It is worth mentioning that it is no less important than poetry, but rather equal to it in importance and diversity. The narrative outturn in this decade was bountiful, so that the story became a new and great artistic expression of the feelings and the writers' feelings who tried to highlight through stories their reality and the different issues surrounding them. So their narrative fanciful interest has pointed out the different social issues, in which they dealt with persons from the society, such as the woman in her various forms and activities, or the issue of vengeance and poverty... The narrators also turned the light about national issues, such as the issue of Palestine, that flows from the writer’s nostalgia to his motherland, or his agony since of his land' occupation. In addition, philosophical and human issues were the storytellers attention center, as they form a prolific ground for storytelling, forasmuch it has different sections that pull the reader to read the story and wait for its end, such as gladness, human grief, love, loneliness, or foreignness. Thus, the Short Story is considered the forerunner in the real life areas at the end of the twentieth century, because it is easy to disseminate and adequate for all times and places and cannot disappear as long as the researchers' pens script the feelings and the soul memories.
