Al Jinan الجنان

Abstract

The seventh century AH / thirteenth century AD witnessed the establishment of the Mamluk state in Egypt and the Levant, which is the state in which the poet Sharaf al-Din al-Busiri lived and grew up influencing and being affected, so the events of his environment are reflected in his poetry in its different aspects.

This research attempts to shed light on the feelings of misery and resentment that exploded in Al Busiri’s poetry in anger and revolution, throwing its sparks in the wrong direction.

This research consists of an introduction, two sections and a conclusion.

The introduction includes a definition of the research, its importance, problem, hypotheses, methodology and plan.

The first section includes a biography of the poet and mentions his name, lineage, upbringing, era and poetic status.

The second section is concerned with studying the feelings of misery and resentment in the poetry of Al-Busiri through two subsections. The first subsection deals with his family misery and his complaints about the big number of children, as well as the hard situation and the resulting family disputes.

The second subsection is concerned with tracking the indignation of Al-Busairi at his society and all those who harmed him, including scribes, employees, envious people, pretenders of knowledge, thieves, witnesses, wealthy people and others.

The conclusion includes several results, perhaps the most prominent of which is that Al-Busiri was an effective element in his society, and that although he complained of misery and hunger, he raised the voice to let people hear the groaning of the poor and needy and teach them that a large part of the parish was suffering under the burden of poverty, distress and need.

Also, Al-Busiri has been able, through his own experience with clerks, employees and those in charge of public administrations, to reveal the faces of administrative corruption, thefts and prejudice that harm junior employees and burden a large part of the poor of the parish. This way, he clearly showed what was happening in the state institutions, so that perhaps its leaders would take action to control matters, correct the course, and remove injustice inflicted on the people.
