Recently, phosphate and gas were discovered in Turaif Governorate, specifically in Hazm Al-Jalameed area, which is one of the largest reserves in the world. The state is also working on the establishment of an industrial city called Waad al-Shamal. The northern border region also has many archaeological sites dating back to pre-Islamic times, such as in Rafha, which was a station for pilgrims, and archaeological sites in Lina, which includes the Northern Border University.
