Abstract
This research is concerned with studying the use of folktales in three collections of poetry written by Walid Saif's: Poems at the Time of Conquest; A Tattoo On Khadra'' Arm and Taghribah bni Falstin in addition to his two poems titled Searching for Abdullah Al-Barri and Love Again. The research starts with a brief account on the deployment of folktales in contemporary poetry in general and in Walid's Saif poetry in particular. Then the research moves to delimit those poems that include clear folktales so as to discuss Saif's objective behind using these tales through analyzing that possible relationship between poetry and original folktales.
