Abstract
The present study aimed to identify the common play characteristics in children with autism spectrum disorder and find out it’s relationship to some variables, the study sample consisted of (64) children with autism spectrum disorder (39) boys and (25) girl were chosen deliberately from (6) centers and institutions that provide training and educational services for children with autism spectrum disorder, to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher developed a questionnaire to measure the play characteristics of children with autism spectrum disorder, it included 60 items distributed on (4) dimensions include the symbolic playing skills, the basic skills to play, the skills of the individual play, and the skills of play with others. The study results found that the play characteristics in children with autism spectrum disorder was low on all dimensions of the play characteristics of questionnaire in children with autism spectrum disorder with an average (1.14), the results also found that there is no statistically significant differences due to the impact of the severity of autism spectrum disorder in all dimensions of the play skills, and this indicates that the playing characteristics of children with autism spectrum disorder are similar regardless of the severity of the disorder.
