Abstract
The study aimed to identify the physical self-esteem and its relation to self-confidence among the volleyball players participating in the 14th Arab Youth Championship. Descriptive process was used on a sample consisted of (65) Youth volleyball players who participated in the 14th Arab Youth Championship (July 25 to August 5, 2017). The data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of (26) paragraphs to measure the level of self-esteem, a questionnaire consisting of (13) paragraphs to measure the level of self-confidence. The data were analyzed using arithmetic mean, standard deviations, t (test) for independent samples, and chi-squared test. The results indicated that the level of self-esteem was medium. The level of self-confidence was high, and there was a strong positive correlation of statistical significance between the measure of self- esteem and self-confidence. Based on the results of this study we recommended that attention be given to the psychological aspects of volleyball, to developing the physical self- esteem of Youth volleyball players, to enhancing their self-confidence, and to increase volleyball player’s awareness of their physical selves, strengths and weaknesses.
