Abstract

The study aimed to identify the extent of the use of higher thinking skills in practical courses from the point of view of students of the Faculty of Physical Education at Yarmouk University, in addition to determining the extent according to the gender variable of students and the year of study. The results of the study showed that higher thinking skills are employed in practical courses with a high degree of arithmetic mean (4.00). The ranking of higher thinking skills is respectively: Metacognitive thinking (4.11) Critical Thinking (4.03), Reflective Thinking (4.03), Analytical Thinking (3.92), Creative Thinking (3.90). The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the degree of employing higher thinking skills in practical courses due to variables of both gender of students and academic years. The researchers recommended investing sports activities and practical courses in order to develop higher thinking skills among students.
