Abstract

The study aimed to identify the values of citizenship that are reflected in the talk shows on Palestinian satellite channels through their dimensions (National identity, national affiliation, and political participation) in addition to clarifying the shortcomings in the work of talk shows on Palestinian satellite channels with regard to citizenship values from the viewpoint of media lecturers in Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip. This study falls under descriptive studies in which the researcher used the survey method. The study was applied to all media lecturers in the Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip, whose number reached 57. The study yielded many results, the most important of which are: (71.9%) of media lecturers in Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip watch the talk shows on Palestinian satellite channels, (72%) of them watch the talk shows throughout the whole days of week, and (46%) of the lecturers watch them from three to less than four hours. The results also showed that the degree of total appreciation of the values of citizenship with its dimensions (national identity, national affiliation, and political participation) in the talk shows in Palestinian satellite channels from the viewpoint of media lecturers in Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip was large with a relative weight of (72.2%). Moreover, the results showed that there are no statistically significant differences between the averages of degrees of Palestinian university lecturers' estimation of citizenship values in the talk shows in Palestinian satellite channels due to the variables of gender, educational level, years of academic experience and Palestinian satellite channels that they are watching.
