Abstract

Objective: This study examines the approach taken by Muhammad Shahrour in his division of the Quran, aiming to reveal the methodological and scientific errors he made, as well as his explicit contravening of linguistic rules and the principles of faith and religion. This is explored through his applied study on the meanings of the terms (ballagh and ablagh) and (nazzal and anzal). Methodology: The researcher employed the inductive, analytical, and critical methods in this analysis. Results: One of the findings reached is that Shahrour's method of dividing the Quran into miraculous and non-miraculous is an innovative approach that distorts the facts. He reverses the roles of clear and ambiguous verses, making the clear ones ambiguous and the ambiguous ones clear, contrary to the explanations established by scholars of Quranic interpretation regarding the meanings of the Quranic texts. Recommendations: The study recommended further critique of Shahrour's intellectual legacy by presenting his views, discussing them, and responding to them in a systematic and scholarly manner.
