Abstract

Our Arab society is in a dire need of renewal and innovation that embrace the process of developing education. One of the conditions of that development is the introduction of novice specializations and educational modules to the university curricula with the aim to contribute to their development in line with the needs of the labor market so as to achieve the vision of the Kingdom (2030), as well as to emphasize the future vision that calls for education to develop thinking to face nowadays challenges and the contemporary global changes. Where the courses in the field of designing clothing accessories should constantly evolve to keep up with the novice and innovative scientific achievements along with the use of the latest methods and techniques that contribute to the development of design methods and increase the efficiency of the product and its output. Therefrom, an educational module was built to contribute to providing the female students with the knowledge and skills necessary to utilize the aesthetics of the art of Mandala in the design of clothing accessories through adopting the digital drawing method by the applications of the modern smart devices. Thus, they can be the cornerstone and backbone of the small projects which can contribute to the local economic development. The current research can contribute to the integration of one of the peoples’ arts (Mandala art) that is characterized by its high moral and aesthetic values ​​in the field of designing clothing accessories. Problem: 1. What is the proposed concept of designing an educational module to utilize the Mandala art aesthetics in the design of clothing accessories? 2. What is the effectiveness of the proposed educational module regarding the impact of the Mandala art on the cognitive and skillful abilities of the female students in the design of clothing accessories by using the modern smart device applications? 3. What is the possibility of making innovative design proposals for clothing accessories inspired by the art of Mandala? Objectives:1. Designing an educational module to utilize the aesthetics of Mandala art in the design of clothing accessories. 2. Measuring the effectiveness of the proposed educational module regarding the impact of the Mandala art on the cognitive and skillful abilities of the female students in the design of clothing accessories by using the modern smart device applications. 3. Introducing innovative design proposals for clothing accessories inspired by the art of Mandala. Methodology:This research adopts the experimental method for designing an educational module to utilize the aesthetics of Mandala art in the design of clothing accessories. Results: Where the results of the study showed a statistically significant difference at (α ≤ 0.05) level between the average scores of the female students in the pre and post applications on the cognitive achievement test and skill test related to the proposed educational module, in favor of the post application. This confirms that the educational module presented in this study proved its success and effectiveness in achieving its goal thereof, and the foundations they contain and related to knowledge and skills were learnt, too.
