Abstract

Due to the crucial role that clothing plays in an adolescent’s life, adolescents often become frustrated if society rejects their unusual clothing attitudes. In addition, clothing directly affects adolescents ’moods and assures them of a sense of self-confidence when their appearance is consistent with their peer group. Moreover, adolescent girls are distinguished by their rapid interaction with fashion in clothing and clothing accessories. They tend to wear the finest clothes that are in line with the latest fashion with the aim to express themselves. It has been shown that fashion designs at this stage do not meet their needs and do not meet the technical and functional requirements which are required by that stage for adolescent girls to express themselves and cope with the rapid change in their bodies and their desire to harmonize their appearance with their peer groups. Therefore, the researcher designed innovative collars suitable for girls in early adolescence that combine meeting their psychological and social needs and fashion trends so that the proposed collar designs can meet girls’ requirements at that stage. The research problem is represented in the possibility of creating proposed designs for the collars which are suitable for girls in early adolescence as well as surveying the opinions of specialists, producers, designers, as well as female consumers in early adolescence towards the proposed collar designs, and the possibility of implementing selections from the proposed collar designs.
