Abstract

In consequence of the progress and the development in textile industry, sportswear in particular has evolved significantly in terms of composition and weave structure or manufacturing methods. Add to this, the final finish that affect the characteristics and appearance and thus affect their application as a garment. The problem questions have been: What is the physical and mechanical properties of sportswear fabric? What is the impact of different physical and mechanical properties of sportswear fabric on the style of drapping required? Study aims to study the physical and mechanical properties of some sportswear fabric, as well as forming some women's sports clothing designs with those fabrics on mannequin directly. To achieve these goals, an experimental work has been carried out including a number of physical and mechanical tests was performed viz. weight of square meter, thickness, , draping, stiffness, and stretching. Three designs were performed using four types of sports fabrics, Coolmax, Spandex, Coldblack, and polyester, so the sums of executive designs were 12. The results show that the physical and mechanical properties of the sports fabric affect their drapability, also the results show statistically significant differences at the level (0,000) for three designs formed by four fabrics under the investigation.
