Abstract
The rapid disappearance of the lobules of the permanent incisors shows that occlusal wear is a physiological phenomenon. The maxillar canines are also affected by the phenomena of loss of substance through occlusal wear, what is called "wear facet". The line between physiological wear and pathological wear is blurry, difficult to define. Careful observation of the facets can help to quantify the importance of the loss of substance according to the stage of wear, to identify the etiology by the type of wear, to better decode oral parafunctions by the situation of the wear compared to dental occlusion (mapping).
