Abstract

This study aimed to identify the role of parents in teaching Arabic language skills (Reading and Writing) to primary school students in the Corona Pandemic crisis. To achieve study aims, the researcher has developed a questionnaire, and applied it among (250) parents in Jeddah city. The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach to achieve the objectives of the study by applying a questionnaire consisting of (72) items distributed on two dimensions (reading and writing), and on four axes that were distributed to a random sample of parents of students for the primary stage in the city of Jeddah. After analyzing the questionnaire, the study found: There are no statistically significant differences at the level (α≤ 0.05) in developing Arabic language skills (Reading and Writing) due to the parents gender variable (Males, Females), there are no statistically significant differences at the level (α≤ 0.05) in developing Arabic language skills (Reading and Writing) due to the parents’ educational level variable, there are no statistically significant differences at the level (α≤ 0.05) in developing Arabic language skills (Reading and Writing) due to the students class level variable, there are statistically significant differences at the level (α≤ 0.05) in the development of Arabic language skills (Reading and Writing) due to the teaching method variable based on the use of modern technologies during teaching (such as coloring, story, role-playing and singing), and the use of teaching method based on modern educational techniques. The study provided a set of recommendations, benefiting from the experiences of parents in teaching their children Arabic language skills (Reading, Writing) during Corona Pandemic crisis, working to support Arabic language curricula by using modern educational techniques (coloring, storytelling, role-playing and singing in Arabic to meet and satisfy the needs of primary school students, deal with parents positively to support them in the active role they play.
