Abstract

This research aims to identify the teachers' awareness of cybersecurity and its relationship to the methods of protecting students from the dangers of the Internet, and the methods of promoting national values and identity. The research sample consisted of (104) male and female teachers in public and private schools of Taif City; (58) teachers represent public schools and (46) represent private schools. The researchers use the correlational descriptive approach and prepared a scale to assess the teacher's awareness of cybersecurity, the methods of protecting students from the dangers of the Internet, and the methods of promoting national values and identity.

The results of the study showed high degree of teachers awareness about (1) cybersecurity in the field of protecting private and portable devices from the risks of electronic penetration and cyber-attacks, (2) high degree of their use of the methods of protecting students from the dangers of the Internet and promoting national values and identity in Taif from their point of view objectives, teaching methods, activities and projects and methods of evaluation. There was a positive moderate correlation between teachers' awareness of cybersecurity and their use of the methods of protecting students from the dangers of the Internet, and the methods of promoting national values and identity.

There were no statistically significant differences between teachers' responses on awareness of cybersecurity and the methods of protecting students from Internet risks due to type of school, where as there were statistically significant differences on the methods of promoting national values and identity in favor of public schools. There were no statistically significant differences between teachers' responses due to sex, specialization, educational qualification and years of experience in teaching.
