Abstract

Title of Thesis: The use of Cognitive Apprenticeship Strategy to Develop Practical Thinking of Art works among Secondary stage students

Name of Researcher: Mariam Reyad Zakareya Hanna

Research Location: Faculty of Education – Assuit University

Research Sample: (36) students in first grade secondary stage at Assuit Governorate.

Research Aims:

1- Developing practical thinking of artistic works of secondary stage students by Using cognitive apprenticeship strategy.

Research Questions:

1- What is the effectiveness of using cognitive apprenticeship strategy for developing practical thinking in the field of artistic works of secondary stage students?

Research Approach:

The experimental approach of quasi-experimental design was used involving a control group and an experimental one.

Research Tools and Materials:

1- A questionnaire for piloting the opinions of art education teachers and inspectors about the difficulties that encounter artistic works methodology of secondary stage students.

2- A teacher's guide of art education for teaching unit of artistic works by using cognitive apprenticeship strategy.

3- A student's activity book for developing the functional, skill, and cognitive aspects of secondary stage students.

4- A test of practical thinking to measure implicit knowledge and experience and converting them into functional experience.

Research Findings

1- There is a statistically significant difference between mean scores of each of the control group and the experimental one in the post application of practical thinking test at significance level of 0.01 in favor of experimental group mean scores.

2- There is a statistically significant difference between mean scores of each of the control group and the experimental one in the pre and post applications of practical thinking test at significance level of 0.01 in favor of post application students' mean scores.

3-There is an effect of the program that is based on using cognitive apprenticeship strategy on developing artistic innovation and practical thinking in the field of artistic works of first grade secondary stage students, Assuit Governorate.
