Abstract
This study seeks to uncover the special stylistic features that dominate the story of Zakaria Tamer, especially those that intersect with the features of poetic discourse, including: language density, vagueness, symbolism, repetition, musical rhythm, imaginative imagery, and others. All these features give the story a poetic tendency, and give it a unique literary identity that distinguishes it from other stories.
The study attempts to clarify the mechanisms of the emergence of these stylistic manifestations based on the theory of a contiguity disorder in the aphasia of Roman Jakobson. Jakobson discovered that aphasia is not limited to the scope of linguistic disease, but rather is linked to various linguistic, literary and even non-linguistic phenomena. Contiguity disorder means the imbalance that impedes the formation of words in the larger units and transforms sentences into a stack of words without links between them, leading to the emergence of a style similar to the telegraphic style of speech. Likewise, in this type of discourse -influenced by the activity of contiguity disorder- the process of resemblance is evident rather than the process of neighborhood when it develops from one topic to another.
This study works to reveal the effects of this style in the story, whether artistic, aesthetic effects or semantic effects. At the same time, the study focuses on clarifying what is hidden behind this formal structure: the vision or position of the author that makes the stylistic structure form in this way.
This study invokes the inductive approach in monitoring concepts and terminology, and follows the models indicating the contiguity disorder from the stories of Zakaria Tamer. And it uses method of structural stylistics when it seeks to monitor and analyze instances of the disorder in the linguistic structure.
This study took the "Thunder"-the collected short stories- as a model to achieve the study objectives
