Abstract
Abstract. Women are half of the society, and they build the other half. Women have increasingly assumed an influential role in all aspects of life, especially in shaping today's society through writing their ideas and beliefs. Hence, the role of women in Saudi Arabia has become an important issue in the last few years. Indeed. Women writers have become an important part of the development not only of society but also of literature in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, this study sets out to interview a selection of Saudi women writers who represent different beliefs and different styles of writing. These writers that considered in this study for interview are Zaynab Hifni, Maysa' al-Subayhi, Amal Sata, Layla I-Guhani and Badriyya I-Bisr. The objective of this study is to show that in Saudi literature there are many Saudi women who have had the courage and ability to record their views regarding women's roles, responsibilities, and their social relationships in Saudi Arabia. Perhaps, the changes that come to women's (and men's) lives are slow, but Saudi women writers have shown optimism about women's new possibilities and their being effective members of society.
