Abstract

Kinetic energy generated from motion. Such energy is observable as the movement of an object. The heavier the object is, the faster it moves, and more kinetic energy it has. In this recent era where design and science integration are vital in architecture and energy and energy, both scientists and designers strive to push their respective fields towards achieving a more efficient built environment. Utilizing motion into the architecture to conserve energy for environmental and economic benefits is one of the recent challenges in the renewable energy (RE) field. This paper aims at comprehensively exploring the literature about the recent ways and motivations developed for capturing kinetic energy in buildings. Moreover, this research highlights the importance of extracting energy from motion through case studies analysis of kinetic buildings. According to the measurements and analysis in a local case study, this paper provides preliminary information about the applicability of the kinetic architecture attempts from footsteps. Based on the results Kinetic energy could be very beneficial in environmental, economic and wellbeing aspects for humanity. Kinetic Tiles is not only useful in generating energy but also, it can be helpful in data collection and useful for crowd-flow modeling
