Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the effect of an educational programme based on cognitive and metacognitive listening operations on the improvement of listening comprehension skills among seventh grade students.

The study sample consisted of (120) students chosen randomly and distributed into (2) male and (2) female sections. The sections were divided into an experimental group and a control one. The experimental group consisted of (60) students who were taught using the educational programme based on cognitive and metacognitive listening operations while the control group consisted of (60) students who were taught conventionally.

The results showed statistically significant differences related to the educational programme in favor of the experimental group. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the listening comprehension skills related to the Sex in the mean scores of the experimental group and the control one.

It was recommended by the researchers to employ the proposed educational programme in teaching listening comprehension.
