Abstract

This study aims at knowing the attitudes of the secondary school teacherstowards the teaching profession in Jordan in the light of these variables:sex, qualifications and teaching experience years.The sample of the studyconsisted of (312) teachers from first and second Amman directorate.Theinstrument of the study was a questionnaire consisting of (45) items dividedon five domains.The results pointed out that the total degree of the attitudesof the secondary school teachers in Jordan towards teaching had come to amiddle degree, but at a low total degree in the financial aspects.The resultsalso pointed that there are differences in the attitudes of secondary teacherson all study aspects except the third aspect (the financial) in favor of thefemales according to the gender variable.The results also showed also thatthere are no statistically significant differences on all aspects except the fourthconcerning the relation with colleagues and bosses.There are also staticallysignificant differences according to the qualification variable in favor of thebachelor degree .The results also showed significant differences in the fourthand fifth domains (self-satisfaction) and (the social condition of the teachingprofession) successively, while the value (f) did not lead to any differencesaccording to the years of experience.The study recommended improving theworking conditions of teachers in all aspects.
