Abstract
This study aims to identify the extent of availability of a safe school environment and its relationship with behavior problems among higher basic stage students. The study followed the descriptive- correlation method; a questionnaire was developed to collect data from the study sample individuals. The study sample consisted of 70 educational counselors from Irbid Governorate directorates. The results indicated the availability of a safe school environment in a moderate degree in the schools of the directorates of the province of Irbid. The researcher found that there is a negative statistical significance correlation between the availability of a safe school environment and the behavioral problems among students as perceived by the school counselors. The study showed that there were significant differences in the academic and cognitive environment according to the gender variable in favor of males and the experience in favor of less than 5 years. In light of the results of the study, the researcher recommends the importance of the school administration to provide the safe school environment due to its reflection on the behavior problems of students.
