Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship betweenInternet addiction and psychological adjustment by using a sample of (290)undergraduate students from the Faculty of Education, Sultan QaboosUniversity, (150) females and (140) males were distributed randomly. Theresearcher used Internet addiction scale and psychological adjustment scaleafter its validity and reliability to answer the hypotheses of the study. Meansand standard deviations, person’s relational coefficients and T-test were used.The results of the study indicated that there is a negative correlation betweenInternet addiction and Psychological adjustment. The level of Psychologicaladjustment is lower among the internet addicted than non-addicts ones.There were significant differences between males and females in the level ofInternet addiction. Internet addiction is higher among males.There were no significant differences between males and females in thelevel of psychological adjustment.The findings of this study indicated that there were some recommendationsaccording to the study results which may develop students coping style withInternet addiction, and may increase developing social communication skills,which in turn would help in preventing psychological adjustment.
