Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate levels of self-confidence among secondary school students at Bani Kenana Educational Directorate and its relationship with social growth in the 1st semester of the school year 2012\2013. To achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher developed two measures: the first is to assess self-confidence level and the other is to assess social growth. Reliability and validity were established for both instruments. Means and standard deviationsresults indicated that the total score for self-confidence and social growth among secondary school students in Bani Kenana Educational Directorate was moderate. Pearson coefficient values indicated a significant correlation between self-confidence and social growth among study sample. In light of these results, the study recommended the need for cooperation between public and private organizations in addition to mass media to promote the concept of psychological well-being among secondary schools students. There is also a need to emphasize the formulation of social and psychological structure in adolescence.
