Abstract
This study aimed at developing groupcounselingprogram based on rational– emotivebehavior therapy, and investigating the effectivenessof this program in reducing internet addiction &improving general self- efficacy among a sample ofinternet addicted male students in Sultan QaboosUniversity.The sample of the study consisted of (24 male)students. It was randomly divided into two groups:experimental groups & control group, each consistedof (12) students. Participants in the treatment groupattended the group- counseling program (REBT) ,whereas participants in the control group receivedno treatment.The results of (ANCOVA) showed significantdifferences in internet addiction scale & generalself- efficacy scale in favor of the experimentalgroup compared to the control group (a= 0.05) .These differences were also maintained through thefollow up test.
