Abstract

The strategy of poverty alleviation is to set a road map with specific and realistic goals that can be implemented in Iraq, and the strategy aims to reduce the poverty rate until 2030 through the comprehensive development determined by the plan in the education, health and economic level, in order to convert the poor into producers and provide economic and social services However, the most important goal is to enhance the resilience of poverty towards economic growth, which requires increasing the proportion of supply, diversifying the national economy, eliminating poverty of all kinds, achieving food security and stability, and strengthening the foundations of sustainable development, and with a decentralized approach to managing A country is an opportunity for the success of the poverty alleviation strategy, but those initiatives face challenges including the need to provide political will and governmental commitment to poverty issues and provide technical and material support and the need to raise awareness of poverty and interest in the issue locally and internationally, and to prevent the problem from escalating, it is necessary to find economic and social policies and prevent its succession for successive generations In light of the increase in the poverty rate in Iraq, therefore, the research problem is to analyze the mechanisms of the poverty alleviation strategy in Iraq for the year 2018 according to the sustainable development prepared for the year 2030, while the research aims to see the nature of poverty for multiple dimensions This and the obstacles to alleviating it, in addition to drawing a map to distribute the problem of poverty in Iraq, and the research recommends making sustainable efforts to improve and collect new data and review the results in light of the new data and what the poverty alleviation strategy will lead to. The research was divided into three axes:The first axis: the concept of poverty, its types and characteristics.The second axis: the political geography of poverty.The third axis: Analysis of the 2016 poverty alleviation strategy in Iraq.
