Abstract
This study aimed to clarify the green schools’ theoretical frameworks and show the successful global models in applying the green school model, the reality of public education schools in Palestine, and a proposed conception for transforming schools in Palestine into green schools in light of international models. The study used the descriptive analytical approach to achieve the study objectives. The study used the environmental analysis method (SWOT) to reveal the reality of schools in Palestine. The study concluded that the concept of the green school is concerned with the school facilities as well as the organizational culture. In addition to the elements of the teaching and learning process, to form sustainable production and consumption patterns for students, green schools are considered an educational tool to achieve sustainable development. It is an urgent environmental and educational necessity globally to face environmental challenges. The Ministry worked to integrate green culture into the Palestinian Curricula, establish some green buildings in schools, and implement green energy generation projects funded by international institutions. The study presented a proposal in light of environmental analysis (SWOT) , educational literature, and previous studies.
