Emotional intelligence among students of the Hashemite University in light of some variables
Abstract
This study aimed at detecting the level of emotional intelligence among the student of the Hashemite University, as well as the statistically significant differences in the level of emotional intelligence according to gender, specialty, and academic achievement. A scale of emotional intelligence was built by the researchers for the purposes of the study, and applied on (500) males and females students of Hashemite University participated in the study. Results showed that the level of emotional intelligence among students of the Hashemite University was high. There were no statistically significant differences between mean scores of males and females on the sum of scale, while there were statistically significant differences between mean scores of males and females on dimension of social-awareness and dimension of social skills in favor of females. Results revealed that there were no significant differences due to the specialty, but there were significant differences in mean scores on the total scores of scale, dimension of self- regulation, and motivation, in favor of students with excellence estimate, compared to students with acceptable estimate.
