Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of problem solvingstrategy in improving creative reading and creative writing skills of seventhgrade female students in Jordan. To achieve this aim the researcher developeda test on creative reading and another test on creative writing. The studywas administrated on a sample consisted of (69) female students from theseventh grade in al- qadesya Basic school for girls The experimental group(n=35) studied the reading texts through problem solving strategy. Afterthe end of the experiment the researcher re- administrated the tests as thefindings showed that there were significant statistical differences at the levelof (a=0.05) between the mean of the participants performance on all creativereading skills and the test as a whole attributed to the teaching strategyin favor of the experimental group who studied the texts through problemsolving strategy. Moreover, there were significant statistical differences atthe level of (a =0.05) between the mean of the participants performancein favor of the experimental group who studied the texts through problemsolving strategy. Based on the findings of the study the researcher presentedseveral recommendations
