Field Study on Motives behind TRMADOL Use and Addiction among Palestinian Youth in Gaza District
Abstract
This study aims to identify the psychological, social, economic,educational, physical, religious and political causes of Tramadol drugaddiction among young Palestinians in Gaza Governorate during Mayand June in 2013.In addition, the study aims to determine the differencesin the causes of Tramadol drug abuse among young people due to severaldemographic variables such as (age, marital status, employment, housing,income, educational level, and the duration of drug taking) .The researchers used the descriptive- analytical approach as it isa systematic and appropriate approach.Moreover, a questionnaire wasdesigned to determine the cause of taking that drug.The target group of thisstudy is 68 selected young Palestinian addictors of Tramadol drug in theGaza Strip.Based on the findings of the study, the most important reasons behindtaking the Tramadol drug are mainly psychological, physical, religious,economic, social, political, and educational.It is worth mentioning that therewere no statistically significant differences in the causes of Tramadol abusedue to the variable of demographic factors (age, marital status, income,times of taking that drug, and educational level) , but there were statisticallysignificant differences in the causes of Tramadol abuse due to the variable ofplace of dwelling and the reasons for taking Tramadol.At the end, the study lists a set of important recommendations thatmay help in decreasing this dangerous phenomenon through raising thepublic health and religious awareness through mass media.In addition, theresearchers strongly recommend holding workshops and doing scientificresearches about the risks of Tramadol
