Abstract

This study aims at identifying the level of the Cognitive Style (rigidity-flexibility) and its relationship to information processing among students of Al Quds Open University/ Ramallah and Al-Bireh branch. For this purpose, the researchers used the descriptive correlative method. The study sample consists of 377 male and female students. This sample was selected through the stratified random method, as it is appropriate for this study. The study has come up with a number of results among which are the following: There is no statistically significant relationship between the cognitive style (flexibility) and the total degree of information processing. There are statistically significant differences in the cognitive style (flexibility) due to residence in favor of urban residents. There are differences in the cognitive style (rigidity-flexibility) among Al-Quds Open University students, due to gender in favor of males. There are no differences in the level of information processing among Al-Quds Open University students due to either gender or residence.
