Abstract
This study aimed to identify the role of public secondary school principals in Jerash Governorate in improvement and its relationship with enhancing the teaching environment as perceived by teachers. The population of the study consisted of all public secondary school teachers at the Directorate of Education in the Jerash Governorate for the 2017/2018 school year. The study sample consisted of 315 male and female teachers chosen randomly. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was used as the primary tool. The results indicated that the role of public secondary school principals in managing the curriculum and the level of improvement in the teaching environment, as perceived by the teachers, were rated highly. There was also a significant positive correlation between the role of public secondary school principals in managing the curriculum and teachers' perceptions. Additionally, the results showed significant differences at the level of (α ≤ 0.05) in teachers' responses based on gender, benefiting female teachers, as well as differences due to experience, favoring those with five years of experience or less, and due to qualification, favoring BA holders. In light of the study, the researchers made several recommendations, including the continuation of training sessions for secondary school principals focused on activities, educational tools, and the importance of managing and implementing the curriculum.
