Abstract
This study sheds light on body language in the formation of metaphorical images in Arab collection poetry. It also explores body expression and its role in shaping metaphorical images, as well as its ability to influence and persuade beyond spoken language. The research highlights the phenomenon of body language from a theoretical perspective, using selective samples of Arab collection poetry through sensory, descriptive, and dramatic situations. Additionally, the study examines the body’s capacity to inspire and motivate poets to describe this language and incorporate it into metaphorical images. The analysis reveals that body language, or unspoken language, constitutes a phenomenon in the construction of metaphorical images. Poets relied on body language to clarify the metaphorical image and to express what is stirring within their souls. Sometimes, the poet wishes to express something, but words fail to convey their intention. In such cases, the poet resorts to body language to compensate for the shortcomings of spoken language. Additionally, the use of body language in metaphor has increased its clarity and made it more accessible to the minds.
