Abstract
This study aimed to identify the administrative problems faced by educational counselors in public schools in the North Ghour Directorate of Education from their perspective. The study population consisted of 42 counselors during the 2019/2020 academic year. A questionnaire was used as the data collection tool. The results indicated that the problems faced by educational counselors in public schools within the North Ghour Directorate were moderate. There were no significant differences at the α = 0.05 level in the study sample's perceptions of the administrative problems faced by educational counselors based on gender in all aspects, except for those related to school administration, where males reported higher levels of difficulty. Additionally, no differences were found based on years of experience or qualifications across all fields. Based on these results, a set of recommendations was proposed, including providing educational counselors with the latest scientific and instructional references from the Ministry of Education Directorate, holding seminars for teachers to clarify the role of educational advisors, and developing a reference form for students to consult with counselors. Furthermore, increasing communication with students and enhancing their self-confidence, while reducing the written tasks that require significant effort and time, would help educational counselors perform more effectively. It is also recommended to employ additional counselors in schools with more than three hundred students.
