Abstract

This study aimed to identify the professional and personal characteristics of primary school teachers in Irbid Qasabah District from the teachers’ point of view. The study adopted a descriptive survey approach. To achieve the objectives, a questionnaire was developed to measure the professional and personal characteristics of schoolteachers, and its validity and reliability were confirmed. The sample consisted of 3,670 male and female teachers, with 1,897 male teachers and 2,773 female teachers. A total of 354 male and female teachers were selected using a convenience sampling method. The results of the study showed that basic school teachers in Irbid practiced professional and personal characteristics at a high degree, according to the teachers' perspective. The findings revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the professional and personal characteristics of basic school teachers based on the variable of scientific qualification. However, statistically significant differences were found concerning the gender variable, in favor of females. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences in the practice of professional and personal characteristics among basic school teachers attributed to the variable of years of experience, with differences favoring those who had between 5 and less than 10 years of experience. The researchers recommend the necessity of fostering the professional and personal characteristics of basic school teachers in Irbid by studying the causes and factors that enhance their development.
