Abstract

The current study aimed to develop an attitude scale using a combination of Likert and Thurstone scaling techniques to integrate the two methods and address the issues of non-response to all items on the Thurstone scale and the equal relative weight of all items on the Likert scale. The study sample comprised 50 arbitrators and 150 students from the ninth and tenth grades in Ajloun Governorate, selected randomly with one grade level as the unit of choice. To achieve the study's objectives, a descriptive-analytical and correlational approach was employed, and study tools were developed following both traditional Likert methods and a hybrid method combining Likert and Thurstone approaches, consisting of 24 items. The results showed that there is no statistically significant difference between the reliability coefficients and terminal validity values for the traditional Likert method and the Likert hybrid method. The regression weights of the items depend on the latent factors according to the grading method and the correlation coefficients between the latent factors and the residuals.
