Abstract
This study aimed to assess the extent to which the future vision for preparing geography teachers has been realized, based on the experiences of teachers who won the Distinguished Teacher Award in Jordan. It also sought to explore how creativity and inspiration among geography teachers are fostered, as well as to understand the future vision for geography teacher preparation and the significance of the Distinguished Teacher Award in this context. To achieve these objectives, a qualitative research approach was employed. The researchers developed interview questions based on the participants' responses, reflecting the impact of the practices of award-winning geography teachers on the geography teacher preparation program.
The results indicated that society, in general, now holds greater appreciation and respect for the teaching profession, particularly from colleagues, students, parents, and the local community. The recognition and trust in the work of award winners have notably increased. The findings also highlighted the importance of the award in drawing attention to the need for future teachers to enhance their excellence. Furthermore, the study emphasized the importance of recognizing excellence by examining the current state of excellence among geography teachers in the Ministry of Education and developing their skills, drawing on the experiences of geography teachers who won the Distinguished Teacher Award.
