Abstract

This study explored the key challenges faced by women in the legal accounting profession in Jordan. A questionnaire was distributed to 20 licensed female auditors, based on statistics from the Association of Auditors. The study examined challenges in three areas: personal, organizational, and social. It also investigated the reasons that encourage Jordanian women to pursue careers in auditing and the characteristics that enable their success in this field. Using a descriptive research design and SPSS for analysis, the findings revealed significant reasons for women’s involvement in auditing, including educational qualifications, interest in the field, good income, flexible work hours, and social status. Women auditors demonstrated distinctive traits such as ambition, the ability to multitask, strong communication skills, and resilience under pressure. However, women face substantial challenges, including personal and societal factors, as well as organizational policies, which hinder their practice of the profession. The study recommends raising awareness among female accounting students about professional opportunities, addressing women’s personal circumstances in the workplace, and moving beyond traditional perceptions of women in the auditing profession.
