Abstract

The Competences That Should be Available to Effective Academic Advisors in Al-Quds Open University (QOU) And Its Relations With Some Variables The purpose of this study was to investigates the competences that should be available to effective academic advisors in Al-Quds Open University, and its relations with some variables through answering the following questions: 1- What are the competences that should be available to effective academic advisors in Al-Quds Open University from the point of view of the academic advisors and students ? 2- Do the competence that should be available to effective academic advisors in (QOU) differ due to respondents (academic advisors and students). 3- Do the answers of the academic advisors and the students towards competence that should be available to effective academic advisors in (QOU) differ due to the following variables: qualifications, & years of experience. 4- Do the answers of the students towards the competence that should be available to effective academic advisors in (QOU) differ due to the following variables: sex & specialization. The sample of this descriptive survey research consisted of (153) fulltime academic advisors & (333) students from Al-Quds Open University in Palestine, for the a academic year 2006/2005. To carry out the research, the researcher developed a questionnaire depending on available literature .The validity of the questionnaire was determined through experts & specialists in education .The reliability was computed using split-half which was (0.95) & Cronbach Alpha correlation coefficients which was (0.97) respectively
